The charging port of the iPod touch uses the same 30 pin connector system as the iPhone range. Damage to the housing is usually done when the device is connected via this system, as pressure from unusual angles can easily bend the chargers housing. Ensure the device is not moved when charging or moved carefully if necessary. If the frame of the connector appears bent or damaged, a replacement may be required.
